BMR calculator

Basal metabolic rate - how useful can it be? Is bmr calculator really useful?
With the "Harris-Benedict formula" one can calculate the basal metabolic rate approximately:

for men:
BMR [kcal / 24 h] = 66.47 + (13.7 * body weight [kg]) + (5 * body size [cm]) - (6.8 * age [years])

for women:
BMR [kcal / 24 h] = 655.1 + (9.6 * body weight [kg]) + (1.8 * body size [cm]) - (4.7 * age [years])
Power sales

The power dissipation is the amount of energy needed by the body within a day in order to perform work. As power dissipation while the energy is referred to, which extends beyond the basal metabolic rate.

in a woman: body weight in kg x 24 x 0.9 = BMR in kcal
in a man: body weight in kg x 24 x 1.0 = BMR in kcal
The basal metabolic rate a 60 kg woman is thus about at 1300 kcal, that of a 80 kg man at about 1,900 kcal.

When calculating the turnover performance the following factors are considered:

PAL values

The PAL-value indicates with which number of BMR has to be multiplied in order to calculate the total energy demand.

Factor activity Example
1.2 only sitting or lying frail people
1.4-1.5 sitting, hardly physical activity office work at the desk
1.6-1.7 sitting, walking and standing student, students, taxi drivers
1.8-1.9 mainly standing and walking sellers, waiters, craftsmen
2.0-2.4 physically demanding job farmers, high performance athletes
The factors are mutipliziert with the number of hours and then added together. The sum is then divided by the 24th So you get the durchschnitlichen daily factor. This in turn is multiplied by the basal metabolic rate being now replaced by the average total energy demand as a result.

Units of Measurement

Physically, it is to work at a time so performance. Unit is thus joules per second (J / s) or watts (W). In practice, however, still mostly used the unit kilocalories.

1 kcal = 4.186 kJ
1 kJ = 0.239 kcal
